Just finished watching the Yankees win the World Series, and it got me thinking about spending. Not just any spending, though- smart spending.

True, the Yankees have the highest payroll in baseball and have had it for many years. Thing is, it isn’t the fact that they spent all that money that mattered. Hell, they had the highest payroll last year and didn’t even make the playoffs. This year, however, they assessed their weaknesses and deficiencies, evaluated possible expenses, and executed a plan to spend the money they felt was needed to achieve their goals.

And achieve those goals they have. Congratulations, Yankees!
